Discover the pleasure of cutting up fabric and sewing it back
together again in lots of different creative ways! Starting in October 2010,
a series of Saturday workshops (dates to be confirmed) will be held
in the peaceful setting of the University of Bristol Botanic Gardens
approximately once a month.
Each class will cover a specific
technique and both hand and machine-pieced techniques will be taught.
Altogether the samples you make could be made into a sampler quilt.

What is the aim
of the course and who is it for?
This course is for those who would like to learn
some of the many interesting patchwork &
quilting techniques. The course is divided into
three terms covering both hand and
machine-pieced methods, and all skills are
taught progressively to build up knowledge and
experience, so it is ideal for beginners.
What will the
course cover?
The course will covers techniques such as:
1st Term - Hand-piecing techniques:
English piecing, American block patchwork,
curved piecing and applique
2nd term - Machine-piecing techniques:
Rotary cutting techniques, machine-pieced blocks
and machine applique
3rd Term - Mixture of techniques:
Manipulated fabric blocks, Landscape applique,
quilting and quilt-assembly.
The course will also include advice on colour and fabric choices,
especially for those wanting to make a sampler quilt.
