What is the aim
of the course and who is it for?
This course is for experienced stitchers who
want to explore innovative and contemporary
styles of quiltmaking. It provides an
opportunity for students to build on and extend
their existing skills; designing and developing
ideas for their own project work.
What will the
course cover?
The programme will be flexible covering
innovative and contemporary styles of
quiltmaking, and will include specific
techniques students wish to learn. Students will
also be encouraged to embark on an individual
long-term project, seeing it right through from
the design stage to completed artefact.
On the first day we will decide as a group the
programme for the term.
How will I
learn?
Through instruction, demonstration, personal
research and most importantly - practicing new
techniques! Some class sessions will cover the
teaching of specific techniques, at other times
students will work on their own projects with
tutor support. There are some sewing machines
available to use in class, but it is preferable
for students to bring their own.
