Assessment
pieces - three highly accomplished artefacts:
1) A Quilt - a wall-hanging or bed quilt
2) A 3-Dimensional item
3) A Miniature Quilt
Assessment - is more formal reflecting the high
standards of craftsmanship expected to be
achieved at this level but is still flexible.
All work is recorded in a logbook and leads to
the 7923 Design and Craft certificate.
How will I
learn?
Through study, demonstration and most
importantly practice! Students will make a range
of samples drawing on the research project for
inspiration and experimenting with a wide
variety of materials to explore their potential!
Do I need any
previous knowledge or experience?
The 7923 course is designed to follow on from
the 7922 course and students will benefit from
having completed this first, however since this
is a leisure class, students with sufficient
experience of patchwork and quilting techniques
will be able to undertake the course. The
research project will be more challenging for
someone with no previous design experience, but
the most important thing to develop personal
creativity is a willingness to be challenged!
All new skills will be taught progressively to
build up knowledge and experience.
For the Design unit - again skills will be
taught progressively, so a prior knowledge is
useful but not essential.
How much time
will it take?
Time devoted to project work is up to the
individual, but as this is a programme with the
emphasis on experimentation students should
allow several hours each week to complete
samples and make the most of the course.
Assessment projects will take longer to complete
but again how much time is a matter of personal
choice.
What support is
available?
The tutor will support students with learning related to the subject and give advice on where to purchase materials etc... If students have any specific needs such as learning, financial or disability difficulties and you would like to speak to me (Lynne) in confidence, please contact me.
The Linnaeus Study Room at the Botanic Garden is on level access and there are disabled facilities and car-parking space. |
