Patchwork & Quilting – Advanced Class Updated May 2020
The Advanced classes are for experienced stitchers who (to quote a student), like to be ‘challenged and stretched!’ It provides an opportunity to learn with like-minded people and be experimental and creative. There are two Advanced classes on Tuesdays and Fridays fortnightly and there are 15 sessions running from September to the end of May. For details of current classes, dates, costs and venue, please click on the ‘New Classes for September’ link on the Homepage.
The programme is flexible for this course and like the intermediate classes, based on the techniques students’ wish to learn. You may have a particular project in mind or just want to learn more advanced techniques. We discuss as a class what everyone wants to do at the beginning of term and draw up a schedule based on the techniques requested.
Students will need to provide their own materials and bring a sewing machine, (though I have some available to borrow). Some materials for specific techniques we can order in bulk as a group.
Students are supported with handouts on the various techniques and I have a library of over 300 books available to borrow. Irons and ironing boards are provided and I also keep a well stocked cupboard of essential items for students to borrow, including rotary cutting equipment so if you forget something it’s not the end of the world! I also have a table-tennis table which is perfect for layering up big quilts!
This course will be held in my new studio which has off-street parking and level access. People will need to bring their own lunch, but tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and a microwave is available for warming food.
