Patchwork & Quilting – Intermediate Classes                                             Updated for 2023

Many people who’ve done the Beginners course progress to an Intermediate class to learn further techniques and work on their own choice of projects. There are three classes at present on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The classes are fortnightly from 10.00-3.30 and there are 15 sessions running from September to the end of May. For details of current classes, dates, costs and venue, please click on the link  Leisure Course Information for September on the Homepage.

Course content
The programme is flexible for this course and based on the subjects students’ wish to learn. You may have a particular project in mind or want to learn a specific technique, so we decide as a class at the beginning of term what topics will be covered. The choice is endless! And if you’re having trouble making up your mind I have a wonderful library of books to inspire you! There are several examples of group projects on the website under ‘Galleries.’

Additional costs
Students will need to provide their own materials and bring a sewing machine, (though I have some available to borrow). For some techniques like dyeing for example, we can order materials in bulk as a group.

Additional support

Students are supported with handouts on the various techniques and I have a library of over 300 books available to borrow. Irons and ironing boards are provided and I also keep a well stocked cupboard of essential items for students to borrow, including rotary cutting equipment so if you forget something it’s not the end of the world! I also have facilities to do ‘wet’ techniques like dyeing, painting and sun-printing (in the summer)! A large pin-wall for designing and a table-tennis table – perfect for layering up big quilts!

Venue

This course will be held in my new studio which has off-street parking and level access. People will need to bring their own lunch, but tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and a microwave is available for warming food.
